NCPB face tough test in quest for regional title

Black Mamba chase third place while NCPB women go for second place in the women's competition.

As curtains come down on the 2021 edition of the Wast and Central Africa Handball Federation Senior Club Championships in Dar es Salaam, National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) will look to lift the men's title while Black Mamba are chasing a podium finish.

The Millers have an uphill task as they face holders Rwanda Police in the final, their first in three years as the last time the Millers participated in the regional competition was in 2018.

Paul Pudo's charges will be keen not to relive their 2017 experience where they lost to Congo in the final. However, their quest for the title is no walk in the park as they head to the final against an unbeaten Police eager to retain the title they won in 2019 on home ground.

"We are expecting a good match. We won the event in 2018 and we hope to reclaim the title. We will give our all and hopefully the results will work in our favour and end our good outing on a high, " said NCPB's assistant coach Danston Eshikumo.

Meanwhile, Mamba are up against Tanzania's Ngome in the third-place playoff, having lost in the semifinal to compatriot NCPB while the host side fell to Rwanda Police.

The Martin Abunde-coached side are promising to leave nothing to chance as they look to romp to the podium.

In the women's matches, NCPB Ladies are hoping for a win that will see them seal second place after Nairobi Water Queens clinched the title on Friday.
