The three-time MVP continues to push boundaries
In life, it’s much easier to learn something new than to change a habit. For Nikola Jokic, achieving a triple-double has become a habit, and for Denver’s sake, it’s better not to even try changing it. The Nuggets defeated the Sacramento Kings 132-123, securing their fourth consecutive victory. Against the Kings, Jokic recorded his fifth consecutive triple-double, and interestingly, he achieved each of them before the end of the third quarter.
His stats against the Kings looked like something straight out of the video game NBA 2K. He scored 35 points, grabbed 22 rebounds, and dished out 17 assists. Additionally, he made two blocks and one steal in 37 minutes on the court. It was only the second time in history that someone recorded at least 35 points, 20 rebounds, and 15 assists in a single game. Before the Serb, the only player to achieve this was Wilt Chamberlain, way back in 1968.

But that’s not all. At the end of the third quarter, Jokic got hold of the ball and launched a shot from three-quarters of the court. He nailed it, sending the Ball Arena into an eruption. This situation is perfectly captured by the statement of one of the veterans of Serbian basketball.
“If I threw a pass like Jokić, my shoulder would pop out.”

The game was uncertain only in the first quarter, but even then, the Nuggets managed to build a 9-point lead. Denver looked dominant in the next 12 minutes as well. Their offense functioned flawlessly, while Mike Malone's squad tightened up their defense, leading to a 22-point advantage by halftime. However, Denver significantly slowed down at the start of the fourth quarter, and it seemed as though the Kings were shooting at an enlarged hoop. The visitors from the capital hit four consecutive three-pointers, earning themselves a ticket back into the game. Mike Malone was forced to bring Jokic back onto the court, and the Serbian center picked up right where he left off, though Sacramento had already found their rhythm. Beyond this great performance and his fifth consecutive triple-double, this was also the 150th of his career, achieved on the night he was named a seven-time All-Star.

In addition to Jokic, it's worth highlighting Christian Braun, who scored 21 points. Michael Porter Jr. added one less, with 20 points, while Russell Westbrook and Jamal Murray each contributed 18 points. On the other side, DeMar DeRozan led the way with 24 points, Domantas Sabonis recorded 23 points along with 19 rebounds, and De'Aaron Fox chipped in with 17 points.
