The teams are expected to hit residential camp in February next year.
Coach Jack Ochieng is set to guide Kenya Deaf Handball men's national team to their inaugural Deaflympics in May next year and the tactician believes the squad he selected earlier this month has what it takes to compete with the best globally.
Deaf Handball Federation held their national championship which doubled as the selection process for the men's and women's national teams' provisional squad on 17 and 18 November.
"We selected 25 players from the highly successful national championship and from the competition I witnessed in the men's teams that took part, I have a good team.
I had worked with the Nairobi team before the national championship and while a majority of the players in the provisional squad are drawn from the side, we got very good players from the other regions and have the depth needed for this type of championship," said Ochieng.
The teams are expected to hit residential camp in February next year, having already booked their tickets to the 24th edition of the Deaflympics set for Brazil after being the top-ranked African teams at the second World Deaf Handball Championships.
"We are pushing to get all the players together for three months ahead of the championship as that will give us enough time to gel and fine tune our plays. All the players selected are good and only need a little guidance to be at the same level with the competition out there," added Ochieng.
Participation in the competition set for 1 to 12 May is limited to a maximum of 16 men's teams and 16 women's teams of 18 players each.
