Ulinzi Sharks pose the biggest threat to the defending champions dominance
Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league is in its penultimate weekend with women's league holders Nairobi Water hoping to clinch yet another title to extend their dominance.
Having picked a 33-15 win in their Sunday morning match against Rangers Ladies, a side that subjected them to the only defeat thus far, Water head coach Jack Ochieng is confident they are winning the league.
However, the tactician is well aware of the threat Ulinzi Sharks pose, carrying an almost similar run into the final weekend, losing once to the holders in the first leg.
Before Sunday's match, Water trailed the military side on goal difference but the victory takes them two points ahead as Sharks have one more match against National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) next weekend, before the two sides face off in a likely league decider.
"Our performance against Rangers in today's match is a confirmation that the league is ours for the taking. I missed some key players when we lost to Rangers in the first leg but they are now available and I have no doubt we will clinch the title," Ochieng told Mozzart Sport.
Asked about Sharks' challenge, the tactician, whose side won the first leg encounter by four goals admitted that the military side has grown stronger each season but insists they will handle them.
"Sharks are a good side that has given us the much-needed competition but we will be at our best and I am confident of a win," he added.
Sharks have one more hurdle before facing Water in the season ender, in NCPB, a.side placed third on the log, having lost three matches so far.
Should the Emmanuel Kieti led Sharks sin against the millers, the winner of the final match lifts the title and should it end in a stalemate, the goal difference counts.
