The ten-team tournament is likely to adopt a different format next year as FIBA Africa has announced.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women's team managed a sixth-place finish in this year's FIBA Africa Women’s Champions Cup that concluded on Saturday in Maputo, Mozambique.
The Antony Ojukwu-led women's side despite missing out on the semis yet again produced the tournament's top scorer in Nigerian Ifunaya Okoro.

Zone Five champions Alexandria Sporting Club made history for Egypt by becoming the first team to be crowned champions of the continental Cup after beating Costa do Sol 65-58 in the final.
Hagar Amer highlighted the All-Tournament team after being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) alongside teammate Reem Mousa, Costa do Sol's duo of Ingvild Mucauro, Eleuteria Lhavanguane and Okoro.
"The road to the tournament has been a great journey. It has not been easy and we have been tested to our limits but all in all I am very proud of the KPA Ladies," Ojukwu wrote after their last match where they went down 71-51 to ASC Ville de Dakar of Senegal in the fifth-place playoffs.
"You fought hard and never gave up. You gave your best and I am grateful for the blood, sweat and tears you left on the court for this. Thank you.
We pick it up from here. Lessons have been learnt and strengths highlighted and we come back better. To the management, your efforts have not gone unnoticed. Thank you for your support. To our fans, we appreciate all the love," he concluded.
The dockers had set a target of reaching their first ever semis but that was never to be as they were denied by Zone Five rivals and eventual winners Sporting Alexandria in the quarter-finals in a close 76-70 outcome.
