
Oliech and Kayange among sports people honoured on Mashujaa Day

Former Harambe Stars captain Dennis Oliech is among sportsmen who have been honoured by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kirinyanga County on Wednesday
Oliech, who is regarded as one of best Kenyan footballers ever retired from the national team, Harambee Stars in 2016. He scored 35 goals in national colors. He is best remembered for guiding Kenya to the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia. The striker had professional stints in Kenya, Qatar, France and the UAE.

Others honoured include veteran coach John Bob Oyugi known for developing young talents and also finding them opportunities outside the country, football administrator Ricky Solomon and former Kenya Sevens Rugby team captain Humphrey Kayange also makes the 30-man list.

In total 220 heroes and heroines from various fields were honoured during the Mashujaa Day celebrations held at the recently refurbished Wang'uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County.
