GSU who are fighting to defend their local league title are facing strong opposition from Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and former champions Kenya Prisons

General Service Unit (GSU) right attacker Kevin Omuse, who made his continental debut with the paramilitary side as they took part in the 20-team Confederation of African Volleyball Federation (CAVB) men's club championship in Tunisia says he has picked valuable lessons from the showpiece.

The youngster played a pivotal role, playing alongside veteran David 'Tonje' Kirwa as GSU finished seventh in the overall ranking, two positions better than their last appearance at the continental tourney.

"I have learnt a lot from my debut and there is so much room to improve on my game. This experience is invaluable and will go a long way in making me the player I want to be. Volleyball has changed alot and one has to change with it," offered Omuse.

"First as a team we have to work on game strategy and game plan. As a player, I need to work on my mindset in the field. My biggest take away from this championship has been the speed needed to play the modern-day volleyball. I am inspired to work on my speed to rival the best in Africa," he added.

A Butula Boys alumnus under coach Conrad Asakwa, Omuse joined Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in 2018 after clearing high school. The military side introduced him to club volleyball, making it to the playoffs on his club volleyball debut. His 2019 season was spent with Equity Bank where he missed the playoffs.
