
Orca Swim Club declared overall champions of Kiambu Aquatics League

Their season culminated in a second-place finish at the Minnows Championships in Thika
Orca Swim Club have been declared champions of the 2024-2025 Kiambu Aquatics Swimming League, following the conclusion of the season over the weekend.
This year’s campaign came to an end at the Kiambu Aquatics Minnows Swimming Championships, held at MPesa Foundation, Thika.

The Under 9 championship was held concurrently with the Embu County Inaugural Swimming Championships, involving all age-groups till 18 and over.
And while Orca finished second in Thika, they topped the combined medal count points, emerging as the overall champions with 439.
The school, which recently won the KCAA Sprints and Relays at Regis, Runda back in May, did just well enough to pip powerhouses Super Marlins, who came in second with 435 points.
Crawford International School closed out the overall podium, with a total of 341.
Orca piled the pressure going into the final weekend after scooping the men’s title in Thika, but were forced to settle for second in the combined scores after winning just two medals in the girls category.
The league champions totalled 24 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze to finish behind Supermarlins, who had a combined 70 medals - 14 gold, 25 silver, and 31 bronze.
Aqua Shark came third with 61, wrapping up an exciting event that had over 800 swimmers take part.
The standout swimmers on the day were Mathia Sifa and Orca’s Barack Laja, who won the seven-year-old 25m freestyle category in 21.25 and 18.39 seconds, respectively.
With the season reaching its tail, all focus will now turn to a tri-nation water polo tournament pitting Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania on Saturday, 12 July, plus the PIPSSA Kenya Age Group Swimming Championships in Nairobi on the same date.
