Since its inception, the tournament has not only created a competitive platform, but also introduced golf to many residents of Ukombozi Green Garden, inspiring new enthusiasts to take up the sport.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ruiru Sports Club Captain Justus Mathenge welcomed the initiative, noting that it has grown into a vibrant showcase of community spirit.

“The UGG Golf Tournament has shown how golf can bring people together. It is encouraging to see how members of one estate have embraced the sport and extended its reach beyond their community,” he said.

This year’s edition has been made possible through the support of several corporate sponsors including: Ctech Solar, Heritage Liberty Insurance, Squad Three Security, Convergent Networks Ltd, Unicolor, Go Wheels Car Rental, TGL Credit, Botachem, Top Sound Audio and Visual Sound, Kwetu Place, and Link Forex Bureau.

The convener of the tournament, Wilson Thuo, emphasized the vision behind the event, saying: “What began as an idea among neighbors has grown into a tournament attracting hundreds of golfers. This shows the power of community, passion, and consistency. Our dream is to make UGG Golf one of the most anticipated events in the golfing calendar while continuing to inspire more people to pick up the game.”

Ruiru Sports Club, which has grown into a hub for prestigious golf events including the KCB Golf Tour, the Pendant Tournament, KLGU events, and the Lady Captain’s Prize, continues to showcase its capacity to host large and memorable competitions.

The second edition promises exciting competition, camaraderie, and an opportunity to continue nurturing golf talent at the grassroots level.
