The showcase event, set for Saturday, 28 February, on the club’s 18-hole course, crowns a packed programme blending competition, community engagement and celebration, a tenure widely credited with elevating the profile of women’s golf at the Kiambu-based club.
Festivities tee off on Monday, 23 February with a Caddies and Staff Golf Day, recognising the critical role played by support teams in the club’s day-to-day operations.
A Senior Golf Day and Mini Clubnite will follow, offering both competitive and social engagement for members.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Mukami said the week symbolises more than the end of her leadership.
“This tournament is not just about my exit; it is about the incredible journey we have walked together as a club.
Over the past two years, we have seen our ladies grow in confidence and competitiveness, and our juniors step up with remarkable promise. That is the true victory,” she said.
On Wednesday, 25 February, attention shifts beyond the fairways with a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative alongside a Greensomes tournament.
The Lady Captain’s Prize curtain-raiser follows on Thursday, 26 February, before a Koroga-themed Chip and Putt event on Friday, 27 February, which injects a social, family-friendly atmosphere into the build-up.
The main tournament on Saturday, 28 February, is expected to draw a field of 300 players, one of the largest turnouts in recent memory.
The golfing festival will conclude on Sunday, 1 March, with a Juniors Mug Tournament, underlining the club’s growing investment in youth development.
Mukami exits the office having presided over notable milestones.
Ruiru has strengthened its standing in women’s golf by hosting major events such as the KLGU Ladies 54-Hole Tournament and the inaugural Golfer of the Year (GOTY) event organised by the Kenya Ladies Golf Union, placing the club firmly on the national map for high-profile competitions.
In September, the club staged the prestigious Pendant Tournament for the first time, one of the oldest and most respected medal competitions on the KLGU calendar.
Beyond hosting tournaments, the club has expanded access to the sport for women and juniors while raising performance standards.
Ruiru now boasts two female golfers in its elite team, with a rising number of young lady golfers progressing steadily towards single-handicap status.
The tournament has attracted strong corporate backing, led by Family Bank as the key sponsor. Other sponsors include Dhahabu Land Ltd, Croton Motors, Aurora Scents, Lady Captain and Friends, Compnet Advisory Systems, Fantom Estates, Auto Master and Shell.
