
School Games: All teams qualified for national games in Kisumu

The stage is now fully set for the 2026 KSSSA Term One National Games, with all regions confirming their representatives, ahead of the championships scheduled for 5-12 April in Kisumu, Nyanza Region.
Following weeks of intense regional qualifiers across the country, the final list of teams is now complete, setting up a highly competitive national tournament across rugby 15s, hockey, basketball and handball.

In the boys’ category, Western Region champions Bungoma High School headline Pool B, where they will face Kisii School (Nyanza 2), Menengai High School (Rift Valley), and Mang’u High School (Central).
Pool A features St Mary’s School, Yala (Nyanza 1), Kwale High School (Coast), All Saints Embu (Eastern), and Upper Hill School (Nairobi), setting up a balanced contest with multiple experienced sides.
The absence of defending champions Vihiga High School, eliminated at the Western regional stage, marks a significant shift, with Bungoma now carrying the region’s hopes.
In the girls’ competition, Western champions St Maurice Mwira Girls are placed in a competitive Pool B alongside Sidindi Girls (Nyanza 2), St Joseph’s Girls Kitale (Rift Valley), and Kinale Girls (Central).
Pool A brings together Sigoti Complex (Nyanza 1), Moi Forces/Paul Harris (Coast), St Teresa’s Kithimu (Eastern), and Mbagathi Girls (Nairobi).
In hockey boys, all eyes will be on Pool B, where Western champions Friends School Kamusinga (FSK), fresh from their dramatic regional final win over Musingu, face Ringa Boys (Nyanza 2), St Charles Lwanga (Coast), and Mbooni Boys (Eastern).
Pool A includes Kisumu Day (Nyanza 1), Alliance High School (Central), Hospital Hill High School (Nairobi), and St Anthony’s Kitale (Rift Valley).
In the girls’ category, defending national champions Tigoi Girls (Western) headline Pool B alongside former champions Nyamira Girls (Nyanza 2), St Charles Lwanga (Coast), St Joseph’s Kitale (Rift Valley), and AIC Nyayo (Eastern).
Pool A features hosts Ng’iya Girls (Nyanza 1), Mpesa Foundation Academy (Central), Mwiki Secondary School (Nairobi), and St Joseph’s Kitale (Rift Valley), promising tightly contested fixtures.
The boys’ basketball competition features a strong field, with defending champions Laiser Hill Academy (Rift Valley) drawn in Pool A alongside Dr Aggrey High School (Coast), Dagoretti High School (Nairobi), and Lukenya Boys (Eastern).
Pool B includes Western champions Friends School Kamusinga, Agoro Sare High School (Nyanza), Mang’u High School (Central), and a representative from North Eastern.
In the girls’ category, defending national champions Butere Girls High School are in Pool A alongside Moi Girls School Nairobi, Asumbi Girls (Nyanza), and St Brigid’s Kiminini (Rift Valley).
Pool B sees Kaya Tiwi (Coast), Loreto Limuru (Central), Ikutha Girls (Eastern), and a North Eastern representative battle for semifinal spots.
In handball boys, Western champions Musingu High School headline Pool B, where they will face St Joseph’s Kitale (Rift Valley), St Mary’s School Yala (Nyanza), and Kenyatta Mwatate (Coast).
Pool A includes Highway Secondary School (Nairobi), Handege Secondary School (Central), and representatives from Eastern and the Nyanza/Eastern playoff.
In the girls’ competition, defending national champions Moi Girls Kamusinga are drawn in Pool A alongside St Claire Nembu (Nairobi), Nyakach Girls (Nyanza), and an Eastern representative.
Pool B features St Joseph’s Kitale (Rift Valley), Mwatate Secondary School (Coast), Karai Secondary School (Central), and a Nyanza/Eastern representative.
Pending cases add late uncertainty
Despite finalization of most teams, a few slots remain pending appeals, particularly in cases involving eligibility disputes.
Teams listed with dual representation (/) are awaiting official confirmation from the relevant committees.
These decisions could still affect the final pool composition before the games begin in Kisumu.
With regional competitions now concluded, the focus shifts fully to Kisumu, where a blend of defending champions, returning medalists, and emerging contenders will battle for national honors.
