Ongare lost to Philipine's Irish Magno in the round of 32.

Kenyan boxer Christine Ongare has followed Nick Okoth out of Olympics after she lost 5-0 to Philippine's Irish Magno in a Flyweight round of 32 bout played on Sunday morning at the Kokugikan Arena.

Ongare lost 5-0 after all the five judges voted in favor of the Filipino who oozed class above the 27-year old Kenyan pugilist who was making her bow at the Olympics.

Magno dominated the first round throwing punches at Ongare who was struggling to settle in the game. The Kenyan Hit Squad member looked better in the second round but Magno still did well to neutralize her rise and in the end won the bout.

Kenya’s hopes now rest in the shoulders of two pugilists who got byes to the round of 16. Heavyweight Boxer Elly Ajowi will fight Cuban Julio la Cruz on Tuesday while on the same day Elizabeth Akinyi will take on Mozambican Helena Panguana in the welterweight category.
