Twenty-three days after one of the most shocking NBA trades in this century, Luka Doncic awaited his cold vengeance and mercilessly served it to his former team, Dallas Mavericks, as the Slovenian's new side, Los Angeles Lakers, brushed the Texas crew aside - 107-99.
Doncic noted a triple-double, finishing the game with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists, although he was visibly overwhelmed by facing his former teammates, as his FG percentage was only 35% (6/17; 1/7 from behind the arc). Yet, he had immense help from the unbelievable LeBron James, who scored 27 points, 16 in the last quarter.
The Lakers were in control during the entire first half, awaiting the break with the eight-point advantage. However, the third and the opening part of the final quarter were turbulent for the California crew, as the Mavs had a chance to take the lead on several occasions.
Yet, in the end, the home squad emerged victorious, led by the aforementioned LBJ as the most efficient player. Apart from King James and Doncic, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura stood out in JJ Redick's team with 20 and 15 points, respectively. Kyrie Irving's 35 and Klay Thompson's 22 points weren't enough for the Mavs to avoid their 28th defeat of the season.
Lakers are currently fourth in the Western Conference with the 35-21 record, while Dallas sit in the ninth spot with 31 wins and 28 losses.
