Kenya Lionesses are set to fly out to Tunisia where they take part in a two weekend tournament starting from 1st May

The Kenya Rugby Women’s Sevens side, Kenya Lionesses, have today received a timely boost after fly half Grace Adhiambo returned back to the team as they prepare to fly out to take part in the Rugby Africa Women Sevens solidarity camp taking place in Tunisia from 1st May.

Grace, who has been away from the team due to school commitments, was delighted to come back into the fold and hopes she can make an impact in the team.

“It’s a great feeling being back in the team, I had really missed my teammates, and being back in the setup is something I have been really looking forward to. I hope to have an impactful effect on the team when we face Tunisia and Madagascar in the next two weekends,” she is quoted on Kenya Rugby Union’s website.

Speaking on Grace’s selection, Lionesses head coach Felix Oloo stated that she qualified to the travelling team based on merit.

“We have a profiling system that helps us rank players based on their positions. The fly half position has three players; Sarah Oluche, Grace Adhiambo, and Ann Gorety. After evaluating their skills, Sarah was first, Grace second and Gorety third. So the first two players in this position made the cut,” he said.

Lionessess are currently in an eight-day camp at Kasarani where the team has been stepping up preparations for their Tokyo Olympics involvement. From the Kasarani Camp, the Lionesses will head straight to Tunisia for the training Camp that kicks off with the first two-day tournament on 1st and 2nd May while the second tournament will take place on 7th and 8th May where Kenya will take on Madagascar and Tunisia.

Lionesses squad to Tunisia: Philadelphia Olando, Sheila Chajira, Christabel Lindo, Enid Ouma, Leah Wambui, Terry Ayesa, Janet Okello, Sarah Oluche, Grace Adhiambo, Stella Wafula, Cynthia Camilla, Sinaida Aura, Diana Awino, Celestine Masinde.
