The tournament, which serves as the Africa’s U20 championship features eight teams and will be played on a knockout basis over three match days.

As the 2022 U20 Barthes Trophy gets underway in Nairobi starting this weekend 9 April, hosts and defending champions Kenya Chipu will begin their title defense against neighbours Uganda in a junior edition of the fierce Elgon Cup battle between the two nations.

With eight teams set to grace the tournament this year following low turnout in the previous two editions due to Covid-19 challenges, the tournament is set to be played on a knockout basis on three match days with four quarterfinal matches kicking off the tournament on Saturday.

In fixtures released by Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), there will be four quarterfinal fixtures on Saturday 9 April 2022 with the semifinals set for Wednesday 13 April at the same venue before the title decider that will be played on Sunday 17 April as curtains fall on the tourney.
