The Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has announced that the national Under 20 rugby side, Kenya Chipu are set to curtain raise the historic Kenya Simbas clash against South Africa’s Leopards in the Currie Cup Division One clash.
Chipu's clash is set to kick off at 1 PM at the RFUEA Grounds and will precede the Kenya Simbas clash who are stepping up their preparations for the 2023 Rugby World Cup qualifiers scheduled to start on Friday 1 July.
The national Under 20 rugby side will play against themselves as they will split into Chipu Nairobi Select and Western Kenya U20 select before leaving the stage to the first ever Currie Cup Division One match to be staged in Kenya.
The match will be a good test for the young turks as they keep their fitness with their last encounter being the third place playoffs of the Barthes Cup where they thumped Madagascar 49-15.
Simbas jetted into the country from a two month stay in South Africa where they were handed an opportunity to play their last two Currie Cup games on home soil as part of their ongoing preparations for the 2023 Rugby World Cup scheduled to take place in France.
