Kenya Sevens (Shujaa) will have to fight for survival in the HSBC SVNS relegation playoffs, despite putting up a spirited performance in the Hong Kong Sevens.

The team managed to secure three points, leaving them in ninth place with a total of 18 points in the overall standings.

Even winning in the upcoming Singapore Sevens will not be enough for the Kevin Wambua-coached side, as it will only take the team's tally to 38 points.

Great Britain, the team above Shujaa on the standings, has already confirmed a place in the HSBC SVNS Series with 38 points.

Shujaa will face stiff competition in the relegation playoffs, where they will be joined by Uruguay (17 points), who were also in last season’s playoffs, Ireland (15 points), and USA, who currently sit at the bottom and will be desperate to retain their core status at their home tournament in Los Angeles.

At the top of the standings, Argentina have emerged as the dominant force this season, having secured three consecutive tournament wins in Perth, Vancouver, and Hong Kong.

Their impressive run has seen them lead with 88 points after five rounds, positioning them as strong contenders for the league phase title.

Fiji remains in second place with 76 points after picking up 14 points in Hong Kong, while Spain continues their fine form, holding third place with 74 points.

South Africa, despite a ninth-place finish in Hong Kong, managed to collect four points, bringing their total to 66 points and securing fourth place.

France had a remarkable performance in Hong Kong, securing 18 points to climb to fifth place with 64 points.

Australia follows in sixth place with 54 points, while New Zealand sits in seventh with 50 points.

Great Britain’s 38 points secured them the final top-eight spot, ensuring their place in the HSBC SVNS World Championship.

With only one round left before the playoffs, all focus shifts to the Singapore 7s, where Argentina will aim to wrap up the league title ahead of the grand finale in Los Angeles.

Kenya Sevens have been placed in Pool B, where they will go up against Ireland and France, making it a crucial tournament for their momentum heading into the playoffs.
