The final is scheduled to kick off at 1650EAT.

The 2022 Driftwood 7s tournament will have a new winner crowned on Sunday evening at the Mombasa Sports Club.

This is after KCB RFC, who won the tournament back in 2019 when the event was last held, were knocked out of main cup contention by a revitalized Menengai Oilers in the second semifinal match played in the afternoon.

After losing their two recent meetings at Kabeberi and Christie, the Gibson Weru coached side finally got one better over the Bankers as they recorded a stunning 19-0 victory to book their very first main cup final match in the current 2022 National Sevens Circuit on a third time of asking.

"We are relieved, excited and happy to finally surmount this hurdle. The boys went out there wanting to make the main cup final and they played really well to get there. It's a third time lucky for us against KCB but it has been a long time coming. We have been in three finals before today but we have not managed to win, so I am hoping that this time we can make it count," Weru told Mozzart Sport.

In the first semifinal clash, Homeboyz's trailblazing run was brought to a crushing halt as Mwamba recorded a 10-5 victory against the Deejayz yo become the first side to book their final spot.

As the two teams, will be battling for honours in the tournament, KCB and Homeboyz will fight it out in the 3/4th place playoff in search of invaluable points in the overall title race.
