Kitondo had seen off Uganda’s London College 19-12 while Vihiga saw off Jinja SS 19-10 in the last pool matches to reach the semis.
According to Kitondo High School coach Dennis Chikamai, they are expecting an uphill task against the Western-based school.
“I am happy for the boys’ efforts so far. At the semifinal, we know that Vihiga are not an easy side, but we will do our best to tackle them. Everything is possible when we do our best,” Chikamai told Mozzart Sport.
In the second semifinal, Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) rugby 7s defending champions Koyonzo High School will tackle Jinja of Uganda.
To cruise to the semis, Koyonzo defeated Uganda’s Kiira College 34-10.
Koyonzo head coach Elly Okwemba said that they will be looking to exceed expectations.
“I am a happy person. My boys have done me proud. The wins only motivate us to achieve more. We will be aiming to go past the semifinal stage. We take each game at a time,” the audibly excited Okwemba noted.
In the crunch 15s fixture, the round-robin format was observed with the winner Butula Boys taking it all.
The Shimenga Livondo-coached side are leading the log after managing two out of three wins. They only fell to St Anthony’s Kitale in the opening match before bouncing back to bag back-to-back victories.
The Saints on the other hand are still in the race after winning one of three games to sit third on the table.
