The title decider will be played at Catholic University from 3PM

Having already confirmed their places in next season's treasured Kenya Cup campaign, Catholic Monks and Mean Machine will be playing for honours and bragging rights when the two sides battle it out for the second-tier Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Championship League title.

For the two teams, the hard part was already achieved last weekend as wins over Shamas Foundation and South Coast Pirates in the Championship semifinals already earned them promotion to the top flight where they are set to replace the relegated Impala Saracens and Nondescripts RFC.

For Monks and Machine, who finished third and fourth respectively in the final season standings, securing the title will be like a cherry on top for their achievements.

During the 2021/2022 regular league phase, Catholic University's Monks got the edge over Machine as they won 27-20 at the University of Nairobi.

Heading into the final, Machine will certainly be out to exact revenge against the hosts who have the home advantage by virtue of finishing higher on the log table at the close of the regular season.

Monks on the other hand will be out to do the season’s double over a Machine side that is highly unlikely to let their ego be bruised as much.

The two sides had to navigate tough semifinal fixtures, Catholic Monks edging Shamas Rugby Foundation 9-5 away at the RFUEA Ground as Machine also won on the road, pulling off a 20-14 victory over South Coast Pirates in Ukunda.

The game kicks off at 1500EAT.
