Kenya Cup action enters match week five with six games on offer

The 2024/25 Kenya Cup action enters match day five on Saturday, 18 January, with six matches slated for various parts of the country.

Nondescripts vs Kenya Harlequin FC, Race Course, 3pm

With a two-point gap, fifth-placed Nondescripts host Kenya Harlequin in a thrilling clash set for Ngong Racecourse.

Fresh from beating Quins last season, Nondies aim to extend their dominance. Nondies are also building up on their win over Blak Blad RFC last weekend.

Meanwhile, Quins, sitting fourth with 19 points and three bonus points from four games, are determined to hold their top-four spot.

South Coast Pirates vs Strathmore Leos, Seacrest Grounds, 3 pm

Strathmore Leos travel to Diani to battle it out at Seacrest against South Coast Pirates.

Both teams have not tasted a win since the season kicked off, and they will be out to prove their mettle.

The Pirates will be looking to capitalize on the home advantage and their familiarity with the hot coastal weather to emerge victorious.

Impala RFC vs Kisumu RFC, Impala Grounds, 3pm

Kisumu RFC will make a long trip to Nairobi to face the Gazelles.

Kisumu won their first season match last weekend after defeating the South Coast Pirates. Defeating Impala RFC in their backyard will be a stroke of tough luck, but they will be out to test their chances.

The Gazelles, on the other hand, suffered a 48-12 defeat at the hands of Kenya Harlequin, and they will be looking to bounce back to winning ways.

Kabras RFC vs Mwamba RFC, ASK Kakamega Showground, 3 pm

Bottom-placed Mwamba RFC will travel to Kakamega to face second-placed Kabras RFC.

The outcome of this match is almost expected, as the Sugarmen will be looking to extend their winning streak.

KCB Rugby vs Nakuru RFC, Ruaraka Grounds, 3 pm

Log leaders KCB Rugby will be looking to extend their fine run when they host Nakuru RFC at the Ruaraka Grounds.

Nakuru started the season on the wrong footing, and a win over the Bankers will earn them their first victory of the season.

However, going past the Bankers at their home ground will be an uphill task for the Nakuru-based team.

Menengai Oilers vs Blak Blad, ASK Nakuru Showground, 3pm

The Oilers will host Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad in a crunch fixture slated for the Nakuru ASK Showground.

This fixture promises all the ingredients of awe and mouth-watering.

The students are coming off a loss to Nondies RFC while the Oilers are fresh from a historic win over Nakuru RFC, making it a fixture to look forward to too.
