Kyatwa acknowledges that the rumors linking him to a move to the Bankers had led to unspecified problems.
In recent weeks, rumors have been circulating within rugby circles about the potential move of Kabras RFC coach Carlos Kyatwa to KCB RFC.
Speculation about the coach’s future raised eyebrows, sparking debate among fans and insiders alike as to whether Kabras RFC might soon lose one of its key figures.
However, in a recent interview, Kyatwa put the rumors to rest, clearly stating that he remains committed to his current role at Kabras RFC and has no intention of leaving.
"I am still the Kabras RFC coach. I am not going to another club. Those speculations have caused a lot of issues, and I want to clarify that they are not true. I am with Kabras RFC," he said during the Scrummage Africa X space on Monday night.
Early in the 2023 Kenya Cup season, Kabras parted ways with Jerome Muller, a South African coach who had guided them to their second Kenya Cup title, which they won 34-28 against the Menengai Oilers.
They then hired Kyatwa, another South African, who had been Muller’s assistant as well as the forwards coach.
Since then, Carlos' blueprint for success has been evident, with Kabras RFC defeating KCB Rugby in several Kenya Cup and Enterprise Cup finals to claim the titles. One thing that Carlos has proven over time is that his team is no longer considered underdogs against KCB Rugby.
The Sugarmen completed a Kenya Cup three-peat with a 29-5 victory over KCB in the final at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday, April 6, 2024. This result marked Kabras Sugar’s largest winning margin against their rivals.
They also defeated KCB Rugby 32-20 to claim the Enterprise Cup title for the third consecutive time in June.
Meanwhile, KCB Rugby is set to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 5, 2024, with elections forming a key part of the agenda.
The AGM, which will take place at KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka starting at 11:00 am, will include elections for the positions of Vice Chairman and two Committee Members.
In addition to the elections, the meeting will cover the adoption of the chairman’s, treasurer’s, and team manager’s reports.
Any other business (AOB) for discussion must be submitted in writing to the Secretary no later than 14 days before the AGM.
The club has also announced that those interested in the Vice Chairman and Committee roles must pick up nomination forms by September 21, 2024.
“We’re seeking a vice chairman and committee members. Pick up nomination forms at KCB Sports Club or Kencom House, 1st floor. Nominations close on Saturday, September 21, 2024,” the club stated.
