MMUST and Kisumu are also in the last four following wins over Kibabii and Bungoma respectively

Kabras RFC are through to the semifinals of the Lake Victoria 15s preseason after heaping a 61-0 misery to Shamberere in the first quarterfinal of the tournament that was played at the rain-soaked ASK Kakamega Showground.

The Sugarmen, who were enjoying home advantage, bagged 17 points in the opening half, and further 44 points in the closing half to further down Shamberere.

Full-back Flavian Otiyo opened the scoring for the Sugarmen following a five-pointer, but the conversion attempt was off.

The backline was putting in the work, and minutes later, it was speedster Duncan Shigali going over with another try. Eric Cantona missed the three points.

The play was on, this time Kabras piling more pressure on the Shamberere defense, further weakening them before John Baraka was off with another try.

Cantona was sure with the conversion to see Kabras RFC lead 17-0 at halftime.

The Sugarmen came breathing fire in the second half, scoring 44 more points that silenced their opponents.

Shighali scored his brace, and Gibson Perez, Allan Ojango, Jacktone Osoo, Clinton Litali, and Collins Osore all scored for the Millers to see the scores climb to 61-0.

Sigalagala maul over Mbale RFC

Meanwhile, Sigalagala RFC cruised to the semifinals after dominating 47-12 over Mbale in the other quarterfinal at the same grounds.

The students were the first to drill in a penalty off the boots of Sam Bachai.

Mbale would however respond with another penalty kick to level the scores at 3-3.

Sigalagala then returned to the scoresheets after captain Brill Benjamin danced through Mbale’s defense to score the first try for his side. Webster Kidaha failed to add the extras.

Despite that, Mbale pushed on, this time managing a penalty kick through Odinga.

Eugene Ayimba then scored the second five-pointer for the students, and this time Kidaka was sure with the extras.

They extended their lead with another try from Collins Wakoli, with Donald Litali drilling in the conversion to further blow the scores.

Captain Benjamin was leading by example, and he scored another try for the students, but Litali missed the conversion to see the scores at 25-6 at halftime.

15 minutes into the closing half, Alex Tirimba caught the Mbale defense napping, and he was quick to score five more points. Benjamin converted the try to extend Sigalagala’s lead.

Mbale then responded through Emmanuel Odinga, but Sigalagala made it up with a try from Bachai. The conversion attempt was off.

Captain Benjamin then ended the match in style by successfully converting his try to seal Sigalagala’s victory.
