The two sides safely picked wins in their opening clashes

Current log leaders in the 2022 National Sevens Circuit, Menengai Oilers, got their journey to clinching a first ever overall title on the right track as they picked a convincing win in the first round of the season ending Kakamega 7s currently ongoing at the Bull Ring Arena.

In the pool A action played on Saturday morning, the Gibson Weru coached side who sit on 94 points at the top of the pile, the Gibson Weru coached side thrashed Vihiga Granites 39-7 to pick their first win of the tournament.

Second placed KCB, who are four points behind Oilers in second place, were made to work hard in their opening clash but they managed to just get over the line with a 17-12 win over Daystar Falcons.

A strong looking Kabras Sugar who were backed by the return of Kenya Simbas internationals such as Jone Kubu, Bryceson Adaka and Derrick Ashiundu also got off to winning ways as they thrashed Kabarak University 42-7.T

Third placed Strathmore University also avoided any opening mishap as they defeated Kisumu 27-7.

In the upset of the day, fourth placed Homeboyz went down 14-17 to a determined Nakuru.
