Mohammed, a Kenya U20 international with three caps for the national U20 team, Chipu, made a big impact in his short stint at the Coast-based side, making 10 appearances and scooping two Man of the Match awards.
His raw power, relentless work ethic, and physical presence quickly earned him cult status among Pirates fans.
South Coast Pirates confirmed his departure in a statement.
“It’s with mixed emotions that we announce the departure of our 21-year-old forward Hafidh Mohammed, fondly known as Baby Rhino.
In that short time, Hafidh became an integral part of our Kenya Cup campaign… We thank Hafidh for his immense contribution on and off the pitch. Once a Pirate, always a Pirate. Go well, Baby Rhino!” the statement read.
At KCB, Mohammed joins a formidable front row lineup featuring Kenya internationals Wilhite Mususi, Nick Okullo, Erick Miheso, Patrick Ouko, Thomas Okidia, Derrick Juma, Jack Adero, and Nelson Nyandat.
The addition of ‘Baby Rhino’ signals the Bankers’ intent to reclaim their dominance in the domestic league.
But Mohammed is not the only new face at Ruaraka. KCB have also pulled off other major signings during the recently concluded transfer window.
Notably, the Bankers have added Branton Lusisa, a dynamic winger from Kabras RFC, to their electric backline. A former Koyonzo Secondary School sensation, Lusisa spent last season on loan at Kisumu RFC, where he played a key role in helping the side survive relegation.
His stellar form earned him a call-up to the Kenya U20 squad that finished runners-up at the Barthés Trophy in Zimbabwe.
He now joins a back three brimming with experience and talent, including long-serving Jacob Ojee, Austin Sikutwa, Festus Shiasi, Floyd Wabwire, William Opaka, and Michael Wekesa.
KCB also welcomed Joseph Wanjala, a versatile back rower from Kabras RFC, who also featured for Kisumu RFC last season. The former St. Joseph's Kitale student was a near miss for the U20 squad due to travel documentation issues, but remains one of the most promising young players in the circuit.
The club has further reinforced its ranks with the addition of Ian Oduor, a centre from MMUST, John Aswani, a lock from Strathmore Leos, and Mike Tyrell Oduor, a hooker from Daystar Falcons.
KCB has also brought in three players from Northern Suburbs: Melvin Mweresa, Clyde Kimaya, and Kelvin Ochieng, as part of their comprehensive squad overhaul ahead of the new season.
Additionally, Steven Osumba is set to return to the squad from Strathmore Leos, adding further depth and experience.
