Kenya Sevens stars lit up the stage as KCB Rugby stormed into their first Kenya Cup final since 2024 with a ruthless 52-7 demolition of Nondescripts RFC in a one-sided semifinal clash played on Saturday, 25 April at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka.

Coming off a stunning 35-17 upset over Menengai Oilers in the quarterfinals, Nondies arrived with confidence and momentum.
They however ran into a fired-up KCB side eager to erase the disappointment of their last semifinal outing in 2024, and the Bankers made their intentions clear from the outset.
The hosts dominated proceedings from the first whistle, even after suffering an early setback when John Aswani was sent off following a red card in the 13th minute.
Despite being a man down, KCB showed resilience and composure, outclassing their opponents in both attack and defense.
A major boost for KCB was the return of their Kenya Sevens stars, including Festus Shiasi, Samuel Asati, George Ooro, and Vincent Onyala, fresh from international duty at the Hong Kong Sevens.
Head coach Andrew Amonde was also back on the touchline, and the impact of that experience was immediate.
Shiasi opened the scoring with an early unconverted try, setting the tone for what would become a relentless attacking display. Moments later, Asati crossed over for another unconverted try as KCB raced into the lead.
Despite being a man down, KCB extended their advantage through Brian Wahinya’s penalty before Nick Okullo powered over for a converted try. Ooro, co-captain of the national sevens side, then added his name to the scoresheet with a try that Wahinya successfully converted.

The floodgates opened as Richel Wangila and Ooro added further tries, all converted by the reliable boot of Wahinya. Shiasi returned to complete his brace just before halftime, capping off a dominant opening period that left Nondies with little to show.
The second half followed a similar script. KCB maintained control, dictating tempo and punishing errors from the visitors, who struggled with knock-ons and missed opportunities in the green zone.
Nondies’ only consolation came late in the game, with Ronnie Omondi crossing the whitewash and Timothy Lugalia adding the extras. It was too little, too late against a KCB side that had already done the damage.
