Kenya Cup: KCB and Kabras out to maintain 100% records

Both KCB and Kabras Sugar have not lost a game this season.

Action in the Kenya Cup enters Matchday 10 on Saturday with five games taking centre stage at three different venues around the country. There will be two doubleheaders taking place at the Nandi Bears Club, Nandi and RFUEA Grounds, Nairobi. The fifth clash will take place at KCB Sports Club.

KCB vs Mwamba

Hosts and defending Kenya Cup champions KCB take on a fully rested Mwamba at the KCB Sports Club hoping to continue their unbeaten run this season. KCB have won all six of the matches they have played this season and against Mwamba, the Curtis Olago coached side will be gunning for a seventh straight win.

Last weekend, the Bankers were made to work hard against Menengai Oilers, winning by a narrow 19-22 scoreline. For the head coach, ahead of the game, the focus is clear.

“We keep building from where we left because you are only as good as your last game. Our focus is just to improve on that and pick off from where we left off last weekend,” he said.

For Mwamba, the clash against KCB will mark a return to action for the first time since 26th June. And although the task at hand is huge, head coach Kevin Wambua is looking to see how his relatively inexperienced side will cope with the test from the defending champions.

“For us, our goal is still building because for most of the players we are using, this is their first season. We do not have any pressure and we just want to see an improvement in our set pieces and our overall phase play. We know it will be a tough game against KCB and that they will come out guns blazing but our aim is just to weather the storm and when we get opportunities to play, just show what we are capable of,” he told Mozzart Sport.

The match kicks off at 1500EAT.

Kabras Sugar vs Menengai Oilers

Kabras will also be seeking to maintain their 100% start to the season when they welcome Oilers to the Nandi Bears Club in Nandi.

The two sides come into the game in contrasting fortunes, Kabras were emphatic 40-15 winners over Top Fry while Oilers lost 19-22 to KCB in matchday nine.

The match kicks off at 1400EAT.
