Teams are now left with only one game to save their season
Following results posted in the penultimate round of the 2021/2022 Kenya Cup season, the fight for survival in the top flight was pushed at least to the final day of the regular campaign where teams will have everything to play for if they are to evade the drop.
While 1983 Kenya Cup winners Mwamba all but secured their safety with a convincing away win against sophomores Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), ten time champions Resolution Impala Saracens were left needing nothing short of a miracle if they are to play in the top tier next season. Here is a wrap of how things stand after match day 10.
Spirited Nondies condemn Impala to potential relegation defeat
With only ten minutes to go, and trailing 13-18 against Impala at the Ngong Race Course, record Kenya Cup champions Nondescripts managed to score a successfully converted try as they sealed a 20-18 comeback victory to condemn Impala to an eighth defeat that saw them drop to the bottom of the log on 12 points, three adrift the safety places heading into the last game against MMUST.

Following the result, Impala now need to win their last match while they hope that other teams above them lose if they are to stay in the top flight.
On the other hand, Nondies moved from bottom to tenth on the log where their superior goal difference put them above the relegation places.
Nakuru keep alive survival hopes after away win against Quins
Felix Oloo’s Top Fry Nakuru took themselves to a point above the relegation zone as they defeated Kenya Harlequins 13-18 at the RFUEA Grounds. Despite the fact that they face high flying Menengai Oilers in their last clash of the season, the 2013 and 2014 champions gave themselves a fighting chance till the results of that game.
Mwamba all but secure top flight status
A 6-18 away victory against MMUST helped Mwamba move back to 5th place where they are now sat on 20 points and only need one more in the final round to get themselves out of harm’s way this season.
Homeboyz left with everything to play for after loss against Kabras
Homeboyz will need to put everything on the line in their last game of the season against Nondies if they are to maintain their top flight status in the Kenya Cup.

After their 31-6 loss to log leading Kabras, the Deejayz dropped to second last on the log – an automatic relegation spot – where only a win would prevent them from going to the championship second tier league.
Elsewhere, top guns Kabras and KCB continued with their unbeaten runs this season as they picked wins against Homeboyz and Leos. Third placed Oilers also defeated Blak Blad.
