Kenya Cup: Red hot Strathmore school Nakuru at RFUEA

Strathmore Leos made it three wins on the spin as they thumped 44-5 Top Fry Nakuru in a Kenya Cup game staged at the RFUEA Grounds on Saturday

Leos arrived into the clash having gathered some steam following impressive results that saw them beat Blakblad and record Kenya Cup champions Nondescripts and recorded a draw after the resumption of sports in the country following a two months break.

Top Fry Nakuru on the other hand had contrasting fortunes after losing to Impala Saracens and Mwamba with their last victory coming back in March in the Nakuru Derby against Menengai Oilers.

Peter Leo's minute of silence

There was a minute of silence before kick off after referee Peter Leo tragically passed away in an accident on Thursday, the Mozzart Sport family stands Leo's family during the difficult time.

Leos who were brimming with confidence were on the ascendency from the onset as they grabbed a try in the opening 10 minutes through Gabriel Adero after some brilliant piece of play from Arnold Muita for a 5-0 lead.

The Varsity boys continued to put Nakuru under the cosh and we're rewarded for their efforts in the 19th minute when Adero who was having a superb game fed Philemon Olang' to touch down as Muita added the extras for a 12-0 lead.

Louis Kisia's boys were have a field day in the opening minutes of the game and added a third try two minutes later through Bethwel Anami who dotted the try on the left flank after exceptional handling from the backline.

Leos were just not done in the first half as Richard Liva got his name on the try list after Matoka Matoka showed some legs.

Leos opted to kick a penalty with Muita splitting the posts courtesy of an easy kick just in front of the post.

Nakuru how had seen little territory in the first half as Felix Omondi powered through the Leos defense line like hot knife on butter to touch down but the conversion was missed as the Leo's went into the break with a 25-5 lead.

Strathmore picked up from where they left from in the second half as they bagged a try in the opening four minutes with Branson Madigu breaking the Nakuru defense line put unselfishly handed Shem Okola in the try box with Madoka adding the extras for a 32-5 lead.

Leos kept the scoreboard ticking with Bethwel Anami who charged down a kick from Nakuru in the five meter line that landed on the try box with Anami putting ball down as Matoka converted the try.

Louis Kisia's side proved too strong for Nakuru as they added the seventh try through Matoka Matoka who touched down a grabber kick by Madigu but missed the conversion for a 44-5 lead.

Despite Strathmore's best effort to get a half century of points, the game ended with an empathic 44-5 win for Leos.
