Kenya fall to France in the Emirates Invitational 7s semis

Kenya will face Japan in the third place play offs after losing to France in the semis.

Kenya failed to secure a place in the finals of the Emirates Invitational 7s after suffering a 5-17 loss against France at the Seven Stadium in Dubai on Saturday.

Shujaa failed to beat France for the second time in the tournament after registering a 12-12 draw in their second Pool match on Friday.

Innocent Simiyu’s side had a poor start to the opening half as they went down to two unconverted tries and they went into the break trailing 0-10.

France continued from where they left in the first half as they extended their lead through their third try of the game that was converted.

Daniel Taabu who has had a magnificent tournament continued with his impressive streak as he handed Shujaa a glimmer of hope with his try in the dying minutes of the game.

France however held on for the win as they extended their unbeaten streak in the tournament after sailing through the Pool unbeaten and whitewashed Uganda 7-45 in the quarter-finals.

Shujaa will face Japan in the third-place playoffs after the Asian nation lost to Argentina in the first semi-finals while France and Argentina will square it out in the final.
