The women's national rugby 7s team, Kenya Lionesses, ended their appearance at the International Invitational Competition at the Dubai 7s with a plate semifinal defeat as they went down to a 12-29 loss against France Development on Saturday.
Earlier in the morning, the Dennis Mwanja coached side had been forced down to the plate category following their exit from the main cup competition after losing 0-33 to Australia in their quarterfinal action.

They had earlier advanced to the cup quarterfinal at the Dubai 7s International Invitational Women’s Competition after defeating defending champions France 19-14 in their final Pool A encounter on Friday afternoon.
Grace Adhiambo landed a brace in the last pool match while Sharon Auma landed her first try for the Kenya Lionesses with Ann Goreti adding two conversions to secure the victory.
The team, who had to contend with late travelling arrangements to the competition, had began the tournament with a 10-5 Pool A win over Tunisia before later falling to a 0-31 defeat at the hands of South Africa.
In the Tunisia fixture, Christabel Lindo and Jean Bisela landed a try each to secure the Lionesses victory.
