A total of eight nations have confirmed their place in the tournament that is set to begin from the quarters stage.
Kenya Simbas head coach Jerome Paarwater has named a strong 28-man contingent that is set for duty at the Rugby Africa Cup.
The continental tourney is slated for Thursday 18 to Monday 29 July in Uganda with the tournament holding significance as it will act as a qualifier for the 2027 Rugby World Cup.
A total of eight nations have confirmed their place in the tournament that is set to begin from the quarters stage and will be hosted at the newly refurbished Nelson Mandela Stadium.
Hosts Uganda will face Zimbabwe, while Namibia take on Burkina Faso, Kenya battle Senegal, and Algeria face Cote d'Ivoire.
Reflecting on his squad, Paarwater was confident in the charges he selected, but admitted that preparations in the build up to the tournament was not fully sufficient.
"We have one more week before departing for Uganda, I'm very happy with the squad that we have put together, it has been a long time since Simbas played. We have to get a fit squad,
“I'm looking forward to seeing the guys play, we had two alignment camps which is not enough but lucky for us guys who played in the Kenya Cup and Super Series,” said Paarwater.
The South African head coach also noted that his eyes are fixed on Senegal as he hopes to avenge the loss back in 2021 in the same tournament.
“The main focus is on Senegal which is the first game on 20th of July, its going to be a tough one because they beat us in Nairobi two years ago.
“A lot of their guys are playing in France but we are up for the challenge, 2013 was the last time Kenya won when I was with the boys. We've put a challenge to the guys to see how far we can go,” added Paarwater.
Kenya were the losing finalists to Namibia in 2022 with the losing earning the Southern African nation a ticket to the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
