Mokoro, who also featured for Kenya Sevens, has been on an impressive journey abroad since leaving the Kenyan club scene in May 2024 to join Romanian side CSA Steaua.
His move made him the fourth player from the 2012 Kenya Cup champions to secure a deal in Romania.
In April this year, Mokoro made a switch to RC Gura Humorului.
Just weeks later, he put on an outstanding performance to be named MVP of the match.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport from Romania, Mokoro was glad that his dreams were becoming a reality.
“First of all, I had a good game in general, and what helped me achieve this was probably my level of fitness and knowing what to do at the right time.
I did not expect this, but a day before the game, I had a feeling something good was going to happen. We won, but our opponents were not an easy team,” Mokoro offered.
The talented scrumhalf went on to credit the role of his teammates in his success.
“My team contributed 90% of this achievement. They were in the right places and always available for support, which led to most of the tries we scored,” he revealed.
Being recognised internationally has been uplifting for the youngster.
“It’s a very good feeling being recognised in a foreign country and at this level. It’s a morale booster for me, for the other boys here, and even for those back home in Kenya who dream of playing overseas,” he revealed.
The dreadlocked number nine, known for his pace and game awareness, is no stranger to high-level rugby.
He previously represented the Kenya U20 team (Chipu), the national second team (Morans), and the senior Sevens team (Shujaa).
Before moving to Romania, he was part of the Morans squad that represented Kenya at the 2024 All African Games in Ghana.
