Peris Mukoko Wanyaga is a director at KRU and also at Rugby Afrique
Having been named among 12 inspirational women, dubbed the Unstoppables, in a social media campaign last year aimed at growing the sport of rugby on behalf of Rugby Afrique – the continental rugby federation – Kenya Rugby Union director Peris Mukoko Wanyaga is keen to use her position at both organizations to push for more women involvement in the game.
For the last 16 years, Peris has dedicated her life to rugby as she has played and officiated the game before going into management where she currently sits on the board of KRU as a director.

Having been the first woman World Rugby Match Officials’ Educator, the former Kenyan international has reiterated her desire to push for more women to get involved in the sport. Peris is also keen to use her position to see the women in the country get more game time in order to prepare adequately for the big tournament such as World Cup qualifiers and the World Cup itself.
“Other than driving the gender agenda, I want to elevate match officials to the regional and global level to improve referreing standards. For the ladies, push for more matches each year to better prepare for the World Cup qualifiers and the World Cup in 2025 and continue to motivate more girls and women to join different roles in sport,” Ms Mukoko says of her plans with the roles in the two federations,” Peris is quoted on the Business Daily.
This is an amazing opportunity, not only for me but women’s rugby in Kenya!
