Warriors are calling on corporates and well-wishers to come to their rescue and help shoulder their financial burden

Administration Police (AP) Warriors will be looking to cause an upset when they tackle Ngong Warriors in the KRU Nairobi region playoff match scheduled for Saturday, 16 March.

The Warriors who are under the guidance of former Kabras RFC playmaker Oscar Okaron, have been in a class of their own this season.

Out of the eight matches played, they have won six, lost a single match, and shared spoils once.

They suffered a narrow 12-10 loss to Africa Nazarene University after fielding a younger squad owing to injuries in their experienced side.

They will head to the match head high, hoping to emerge victorious, as the coach insists that this is a do-or-die season for his charges.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport ahead of the match, Okaron noted that their main aim was to climb to the second tier, and they were doing everything possible to make the dream come true.

“Our focus is to win each playoff match in Nairobi, taking each game at a time and eventually winning the national playoffs to earn promotion to the Championship, which is our biggest dream this season. I do not doubt that the team has the momentum required to achieve the goal,” the tactician revealed.

Okaron, who also doubles up as Koyonzo High School's director of rugby, further counted on some of his players’ skills to propel them to victory.

He insisted that his charges were ready for the challenge.

“Sure, I trust our fly half Ephraim Papai, winger Glen Amunga, the current top scorer in the league with eight tries, and our forwards who work as a unit who will propel us to the championship without fail. So far, the whole team is ready and prepared to deliver the long-awaited dream,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Maa Warriors are calling on corporates and well-wishers to come to their rescue and help shoulder the financial burden.

The side that competes in the nationwide league now stares at pulling out of the league due to insufficient funds to cater to the logistical needs.

The team has been relying on well-wishers and local fans to survive since its revamping in 2021.

The team manager Thomas Gakari noted that the team has survived this far, but they hit rock bottom.

“Surviving these harsh conditions has been a testament to our players’ resilience and determination. However, to continue this journey, we need your support. The financial burden of sustaining the team has become overwhelming, and we are reaching out to our loyal fans and well-wishers for assistance.

“Your contributions will help us cover essential expenses, ensuring that the Warriors can keep charging forward for the remainder of the season,” he called out.

They will face Nandi Bears in the Rift Valley Region playoff.
