Shujaa is currently in Madrid, Spain for the HSBC 7s playoffs set to kick off on Friday
Kenya 7s national team Shujaa's head coach Kevin Wambua has named his squad that will be in action during the HSBC 7s playoffs slated for 31 May to 2 June in Madrid, Spain.
The boys have been sharpening their skills in Miramas, France following their last Challenger Series in Germany.
The tactician has included the services of Mwamba RFC's instrumental player Brian Mutua. The rest of the squad remains unchanged.
The team's co-captain Tony Omondi is also in the squad despite missing the second day in Munich due to an injury. His experience will be crucial in propelling the team to the grand stage. Together with Vincent Onyala, they will captain the team.
Kevin Wekesa, John Okoth, Brian Tanga, George Ooro, Patrick Odongo, Samuel Asati, Herman Humwa, Nygel Amaitsa, Lamec Ambetsa and Chrisant Ojwang are all travelling.
Shujaa's qualification for the playoffs is the culmination of a determined effort throughout the Challenger Series. They began the year strong, conquering the Dubai leg in January.
However, a third-place finish in Montevideo, Uruguay, in March left them needing a solid performance in the final Munich leg to secure a top-four spot and the coveted playoff spot.
The pressure was on in Munich, but Shujaa rose to the occasion. They navigated a tough pool that included Japan, Chile, and Portugal.
Four teams from this playoff will qualify for the 2025 HSBC SVNS, slated to begin later this year.
They are placed in Pool B alongside Spain, Samoa, and Chile.
Spain and Samoa, both finishing in the bottom four in the HSBC SVNS, will be making their playoff debut, while Kenya 7s and Chile qualified for this competition after securing top-four finishes in the Challenger Series.
