Wandera is in Australia pursuing his Masters Degree in Journalism.
Former Menengai Oilers flanker Brian Wandera is working towards becoming the second-ever Kenyan to play in the Super Rugby.
The former Kenya Harlequin ace currently plies his trade with Dewar Shield, a feeder competition for the Melbourne Rebels who play in the Super Rugby Australian conference.
Wandera is hoping to follow in the footsteps of Daniel Adongo who become the first Kenyan to play in the Super Rugby while turning out for South African side Southern Kings.
“I am relishing the opportunities here and setting my sights on Super Rugby. To do that, I first have to play for the state team then ideally the Rebels or whichever team that offers me an opportunity,” said Wandera in an interview with Kenya Rugby Union.
Should his dream become a reality he could make history by being the first Kenyan to play in the new Super Rugby Aotearoa format after South African Rugby Union announced the withdrawal of their four Super Rugby franchises.

The 27-year-old also provided an update on life in Australia with the country achieving some success in containing the Covid-19 pandemic.
“So far it has been good. It was quite challenging at first as the country went into lockdown,” said the flanker.
Wandera is also pursuing a Masters Degree in Journalism after graduating from Daystar Univerity with a Degree in the same field.
Rebels made their debut in the Super Rugby tournament in 2011 and were the first privately owned professional rugby union team in Australia, until 2017 when shares in the franchise were returned to the Victorian Rugby Union.
