Shujaa failed to secure the all important 9th place finish at the Singapore 7s.

Kenya’s woes in the Singapore 7s extended after losing 19-10 to Spain in the semi-finals of the 9th-16th place playoffs.

Yet to score an opening try in the Singapore 7s, Shujaa’s lethargic start to games came to play again as Eduardo Lopez touched down after a number of fantastic offloads from the Spaniards.

Restarts from Shujaa have been abysmal in the whole of the tournament and again they lost the ball with Pol Pla getting to the end of his grabber kick to register a try for an early 14-0 lead.

Spain were menacing in the first half as they created an overload on the right flank for Javier de Juan to cross the whitewash as the Spaniards finally missed the conversion to go into the halftime break with a commanding 19-0 lead.

After a slow start to the second half, Kenya finally got going when Edmond Anya drew in a number of players and had the flair to step them and offload the ball to Kevin Wekesa who grabbed another try in Singapore.

A couple of decision-making challenges cost Shujaa the chance of pulling a massive comeback but Billy Odhiambo saved their blushes with a last gasp try as Kenya opted not to take the conversion with four seconds left on the clock but the kick off was secured by Spain who kicked it out.
