The team will face Uruguay in the last group clash at 1307EAT.

A moment of brilliance from speedster Perry Baker helped the USA record their first win in Pool C in the Singapore 7s and hand Kenya their second group loss as they recorded a narrow 21-19 victory over the national rugby 7s side.

Shujaa were looking to make amends for their 26-19 loss in their opener against France but it is USA who got the perfect response to their shocking 21-24 defeat against Uruguay in their first match.

It is Baker who had put his team in the lead when he touched down the opening try which was converted by Steve Tomasin for a 7-0 lead.

Another converted try courtesy of Lucas Lacamp’s effort then extended USA’s lead but a well worked try masterminded by Brian Tanga who switched the ball back to skipper Nelson Oyoo helped Shujaa cut down the deficit to 14-7 by the half time break as Tony Omondi successfully converted.

Shujaa managed to restore parity in the second half after yet another inspired play by Tanga which ended up with Alvin ‘Buffa’ Otieno touching down under the posts with Omondi converting to bring the scores to 14-14.

Baker’s converted try restored USA’s lead to 21-14 but a late surge from Shujaa ended in disappointment as George Ooro managed to touch down at the corner right at the death setting up the game for a possible draw with the conversion to come.

Omondi however failed to salvage anything as his attempt lack the power to split the posts as Kenya were left staring at the possibility of exiting the main cup.
