Talented Onzere pens farewell letter to Homeboyz after sealing move to Quins

The player was part of the team that won the U20 Barthes Trophy in 2021 with Kenya Chipu.

Kenya U20 international Arnold Onzere has penned an emotional farewell letter to his former side Homeboyz RFC after completing his move to Kenya Harlequin.

This past weekend, the talented youngster made his debut for Harlequin at the 2022 National Sevens Circuit season opening George Mwangi Kabeberi 7s held at RFUEA Grounds, bringing to an end his relationship with the Deejayz that has been in place since 2014.

After serving for over eight years with the team, the fast rising player expressed his gratitude to the Deejayz as he welcome the new challenge that awaits at Quins.

“I cannot describe how I will miss being a part of this team, but I can say how extremely grateful I am for what Homeboyz RFC has given me. I have met some of my best mates for life and have had the opportunity which enabled me to become the player and person I am today,” he wrote.

“Since 2014 I have loved my time in blue and yellow, I have had some unforgettable memories with the boys. Thanks to the players and management for everything and to the loyal supporters who turn up every week. I look forward to the next chapter and a new challenge at the Kenya Harlequins,” he said.

The 22 year old former Laiser Hill student was part of the first group of players to form Homeboyz Academy in late 2013 when he joined the Deejays. The player was also was part of the team that won the U20 Barthes Trophy in 2021 with Kenya Chipu. They beat Madagascar 21-20 to lift the continental title.
