The skipper is hoping to one day turn out for Kenya 7s.
Following an impressive performance in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSA) Nairobi region rugby sevens, three Kenya Cup teams are interested in the services of Ofafa Jericho High School’s skipper Emmanuel Olume.
Ofafa Jericho etched their name into history after sealing their maiden appearance in the national school games after beating Nairobi School in the semi-finals.
Olume revealed that he has received a number of offers after winning the 2022 Prescott Cup and putting in impressive performances in the school games.
“When we played in the Prescott Cup finals we were scouted and here at the school games we were still scouted but my dream is go to university then join a club and hopefully play for Kenya 7s in the future.
Three teams have so far shown their interest in me, there is Homeboyz, Impala and KCB, I haven’t yet made a decision on which team I will join,” said Olume.
Two schools earned National tickets with Upper Hill School joining Ofafa Jericho after beating Dagoretti High School in the semis while “OJ” won the overall tournament after beating Upper Hill in the final.
Beating Upper Hill by a narrow score line of 7-5, Olume admitted that the final was not a walk in the park and was delighted to captain the side to the nationals.
“The final was hard as we expected, both teams were unbeaten from the Pool games but we did our best and made sure we beat them.
I’m happy that we are the first lot from Ofafa to qualify for the nationals. It has been my long dream to feature in the games and I’m glad that it has finally happened,” added Olume.
