Team Kenya athletes will be in action in three events in Paris on Thursday, with medal prospects in one event.
The events will be beamed live on Kenya's state broadcaster KBC and Supersport.
Yesterday, Kenya added another medal to its tally when Abraham Kibiwott finished third in the 3000M steeplechase. Kibiwott managed to fend off pressure, helping the men’s team register their presence on the medal chart.
On Thursday, Rio Olympics silver medalist in javelin, Julius Yego, will compete in the final at 9:21 PM as he seeks a podium finish. Yego advanced to the final after recording a throw of 85.97M in the qualification phase. However, he faces serious competition from Germany’s Julian Weber, who registered a throw of 87.76M, India’s Neeraj Chopra, who managed an 89.34M throw among others.
At 8:35 PM, the Kenyan trio of Susan Ejore, Faith Kipyegon, and Nelly Jepchirchir will compete in the 1500M semifinals, seeking to secure a place in the final. Kipyegon and Jepchirchir are in semifinal one, while Ejore is in semifinal two.
Before these two late races, Koitatoi Kidali will compete in the 800M repechage at 1:08PM, seeking to earn a place in the semifinals. If he performs well, he will join compatriots Emmanuel Wanyonyi and Wycliffe Kinyamal, who qualified yesterday for Friday’s finals.
Stay tuned for all the live updates.
