World 800m champion Mary Moraa rekindled her lost touch this season after clocking a new season-best at the KBC Nacht Night of athletics event in Belgium on Saturday, 19 July.
Moraa, 25, ran in the 400m, winning in an impressive time of 50.49.

The event, staged at Stadium De Veen, was Moraa’s first since her shocking 12th placed finish in the 1,000m at the Pre Fontaine Classic in Eugene.
“Season’s best victory at the Night of Athletics Heusden-Zolder 2025,” Moraa posted on her socials on Sunday, 20 July. “Thank you Belgium.”
Her winning time usurped her previous season best of 51.51, which she set at the 5th AK Track and Field Weekend Meeting at the Nyayo National Stadium on 26 April.
Moraa was the only Kenyan invited in Belgium to record a win, with newly-crowned 3,000m steeplechase national champion Celestine Jepkosgei being the closest to victory.
The 21-year-old clocked a season best 9:19.22 to finish second behind Olympic champion and Kenyan-Bahraini Winfred Yavi, who recorded back-to-back victories to win in a time of 8:49.59.
The winning time now means Yavi, 25, has two of the top-five fastest times in the distance, with her latest effort ranking fifth all time.
Her personal best remains the 8:44.39 she set in Italy last year.
“Grateful for growth, respect to every competitor, the journey continues,” Yavi posted on Sunday.
