Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala will face a stern test at the Silesia Diamond League following a star-studded entry list confirmed for the meet.
The meet which is scheduled for Sunday 25 August has attracted the crème de la crème of sprints with the only notable omission being 100m Olympic champion Noah Lyles.
Lyles revealed that he contracted Covid-19 just before his 200m which led to his third-place finish with symptoms manifesting shortly after his gold in the 100m.
The A list confirmed for the Silesia Diamond League includes the world’s fastest man this year and 100m Olympic silver medalist Kishane Thompson.
100m Olympic bronze medalist Fred Kerley and his compatriot Christian Coleman, former Olympic champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs.
Jamaican Ackeem Blake is also in the line up including, former European champion Jeremiah Azu, Chituru Ali, and Rohan Watson.
Also confirmed for the Silesia Diamond League is Mary Moraa who will be dipping her feet into unfamiliar territories as she is set to participate in the 1000m.
This will end her three-year hiatus from the race as she last contested the longer distance at the KBC Nacht van de Atletiek in Belgium back in 2021.
She will however first have to clear the hurdle of the Lausanne Diamond League that is slated for Thursday 24 August.
