In a lackluster clash at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, AFC Leopards and Tusker FC failed to secure a vital win, settling for a goalless draw that adds to both teams' frustration in the FKF Premier League
In a dull affair at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Monday, AFC Leopards and Tusker FC played to a goalless draw in a crucial FKF Premier League match where both sides were desperate for a win.
The toothless attacks of both teams left fans frustrated as the poor run for AFC Leopards and Tusker FC continued, with the draw being particularly disappointing.
In the first half, AFC Leopards showed more brightness, with Tusker goalkeeper Brian Bwire making a crucial save after 15 minutes to deny Brian Yakhama's header. However, neither team managed to break the deadlock, with Leopards coming close through Musa Oundo's header and Clifton Miheso hitting the side netting.
Tusker had their opportunities as well, with Joseph Mwangi firing wide and Erick Kapaito missing a chance at the stroke of halftime. The second half saw both sides probing, but the best chance fell to Miheso in the 68th minute, only for his goal-bound shot to be well blocked.
A late free-kick from Boniface Onyango tested Leopards' goalkeeper Patrick Katasi, but he tipped it over the bar, securing the draw.
The result added to AFC Leopards' struggles, marking their fourth stalemate in the last five games, leaving them in 14th place on the log with 11 points. Tusker, aiming for back-to-back wins, failed to secure the victory and now sits 12th on the table with 15 points, trailing 12 points behind the leaders Gor Mahia.
Robert Matano's side, returning to the pitch after three weeks, lacked sharpness, and the draw further dims their prospects, as they have managed only two wins in their last eight games, seemingly falling out of the title race after just 13 games played.
