12-time FKF Premier League champions AFC Leopards have moved swiftly to reinforce their squad by signing Butere Boys captain Dennis Kikwae.
The club fended off stiff competition from Kakamega Homeboyz to secure the talented midfielder on a five-year contract.
According to documents seen by Mozzart Sport, Kikwae will join the Leopards immediately after the conclusion of the school calendar.
The Form Four student reported to Ingwe’s training camp shortly after the ten-day FEASSSA tournament in Kakamega County.
It is understood that AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani personally scouted Kikwae during the games before approving the move.
Kikwae, known for his trademark defence-splitting passes, was a standout for the Exodus, scoring 56 goals from the zonal qualifiers to the East African stage.
At the East Africa level, he netted four goals and led Butere Boys to an unbeaten run to the semi-finals.
He also became the first captain in the school’s history to guide any sporting discipline to the East African level.
“Kikwae is among the boys benefiting from quality coaching under Mukolwe, Okatwa, Ayombe, and the entire technical bench. The future is bright for him and others,” said Butere Boys' games teacher Moses Shikolia in an earlier interview with Mozzart Sport.
Meanwhile, the Exodus goalkeeper, Daniel Masakwe, has joined Kakamega Homeboyz on a long-term deal.
Butere Boys continue to cement their reputation as a cradle of football talent in Kenya, having produced notable players such as Harambee Stars defender Johnstone Omurwa, Clinton Okoth, Titus Echesa, and Kakamega Homeboyz assistant coach Paul Okatwa.
