Just when Bidco appeared destined to leave Nairobi with a valuable point, their resilience cracked at the death

Bidco United head coach Anthony Akhulia has attributed his side’s heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to defending champions Kenya Police FC to a brief but costly lapse in concentration during the dying moments of Tuesday’s 26 November, FKF Premier League clash at Nyayo National Stadium.

The Oilers delivered a spirited second-half comeback, overturning a 2-0 deficit within a frantic three-minute spell.

Substitute Jacob Onyango sparked the revival before a David Ochieng own goal, forced by a dangerous Thomas Wainaina delivery, drew Bidco level and silenced the home supporters who had already sensed victory after first-half goals from David Simiyu and Eric Zakayo.

But just when Bidco appeared destined to leave Nairobi with a valuable point, their resilience cracked at the death.

Deep into added time, Police mounted one last wave of pressure, and the Thika-based outfit failed to clear Gedeon Muyadi’s floated ball into the area.

The delivery fell kindly to Exaule Misuri, who showed composure to slot past goalkeeper Issa Emuria, snatching all three points for the champions in the 95th minute.

Speaking to Azam Sports after the match, a visibly disappointed Akhulia lamented his side’s inability to remain disciplined when it mattered most.

"In the match against Police, we lost concentration in the added minutes when it mattered most. They added five minutes, and we needed to stay calm and defend well, especially the long balls they were floating into our danger area,” Akhulia said.

“We did well to come back into the match and score twice, which was a plus for us, but we let it slip away in the dying minutes. That is a moment we should have defended better.”

The defeat marked Bidco’s third loss in ten outings, extending their winless streak to five matches.

Despite the slump, the Oilers remain fifth on the table with 13 points, though the dropped points denied them a golden opportunity to close the gap on leaders Gor Mahia to just three points.
