Tusker faces National Super League side Nairobi United in the Round of 32, and if they advance, they will meet either HOHA or KCB in the Round of 16.
Tusker FC defender Alex Onchwari remains confident that the Brewers can challenge for both the FKF Premier League title and the Mozzart Bet Cup this season.
Despite a recent slump that has seen them go winless in four matches, Onchwari believes they are still in pole position to compete for silverware.
Currently second in the league, Tusker trails leaders Kenya Police FC by just one point after failing to capitalize on their rivals' slip-ups.
Onchwari, who has become a key figure in Tusker’s defense in recent weeks, is optimistic that the team can turn things around.
“We have the ability to challenge for both. Police are only one point ahead, and we are still in the title race. We just need to be smart in the remaining games," he told Telecomasia.
Reflecting on the team's tough February fixtures, Onchwari acknowledges their recent struggles but remains focused on finishing strong.
"February wasn’t great for us, but we need to deliver in the remaining 12 games to lift both the league title and the Mozzart Bet Cup,” added the former Zoo FC and Muhoroni Youth FC defender.
In terms of the cup competition, the former Horseed FC center-back is confident that Tusker will succeed by taking one match at a time.
“For the cup, it’s all about progressing step by step. We’re into the Round of 32, and the goal is to win and keep moving forward. The team is focused, and everyone is determined to win both trophies.”
