The player has been with Leopards since June 2018
Former AFC Leopards captain Eugene Mukangula is open to engaging the club in renewal talks after the expiry of his contract with the club.
The dreadlocked midfielder is out of contract following the end of his deal at the end of July and everything points at him exiting the club this transfer window.
Before the 2022-23 season came to a close, Mukangula alongside Peter Thiong'o were stripped of leadership positions at the club after a go slow at the club over delayed salaries. Club Secretary General Gilbert Andugu then announced that the pair would exit the club when their contracts elapse.
Both players have been away from Ingwe's training ground but in an interview, Mukangula expressed confidence that the two parties could still strike a deal.
"If we can hold renewal talks then I'll glady continue to play for AFC Leopards. I do not think I that I fell out with anyone at the club. I also do not think that what happened is irreparable. People can always talk and find solutions to problems."
Despite being pushed out of the club, the former Thika United man maintains there's no bad blood between him and the club.
"There's no bad blood between me and Leopards or anyone at the club because at the end of day there's life outside football. I believe that even if I do not continue at the club it's important that we remain civil,".
On whether he is in talks with another club, Mukangula maintains that he is yet to be approached by another outfit.
"I am not in talks with any team over a transfer right now. Since my contract expired I have been staying at home, and exercising on my own to ensure that I remain fit and ready. At this point I cannot say that I've held any talks with any team, " he stated.
Leopards start the season with a home match against FC Talanta on Sunday 27 August.
