FKF Premier League side APS Bomet not only walked home with three points, in their victory over Kenyan giants Gor Mahia, but also richer thanks to financial reward from the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) - Administration Police Gilbert Masengeli.
Bomet produced a remarkable comeback to stun K’Ogalo 4-1 in a match played at the Nyayo National Stadium on Tuesday, 25 November.
Hansel Ochieng was the hero of the day, grabbing a brace, with Rodgers Kipkemoi and Philip Wasai adding the extras, to hand the 21-time league champions their second defeat of the season.
Masengeli, who watched the proceedings from the stands, gifted the team Ksh180,000 after the game.
Apart from the cash, Masengeli also promised to give the players boots to the whole team, a venture that will cost over Ksh150,000.
The icing on the cake was the promise by Masengeli to negotiate more slots for recruitment to the National Police Service to members of the team.
“To boost your morale and reward your performance, I will request for additional recruitment chances for you (players).
I also reiterate my commitment to support the team in the best possible way so that we can continue producing good results,” said Masengeli.
Some of the members of the team who will be reporting for training after the recently held recruitment include: Bob Cetric, Duke Muhoro as well club media officer Bethwel Kipkorir.
